What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You

One of the biggest hurdles we face as  health and fitness professionals in mentoring clients towards a healthy diet is dispelling common myths and wives tales concerning nutrition. In fact, much of this misinformation is perpetrated by food manufactures and the diet industry itself.

What Is Good Nutrition?

Most of the large food manufacturers and these so-called “weight loss programs” have a vested interest in keeping the public at large confused and well, overweight. Powerful, well-funded companies with obscene marketing budgets are routinely promising impossible results if you just drink their shake, take their pill, or do 10 minutes of exercise on their latest wiz-bang gadgets. If it were that easy we would be the fittest nation on earth. In fact we are sliding towards rampant obesity and spiraling ill-health. The diet industry takes in 60 billion dollars a year from people trying to lose weight. It´s no wonder so many people have given up on the idea of  a reasonable, healthy lifestyle.
